Who goes?
Anyone who wants a fun day out with interesting people; simple as that. Sometimes there are 4 and sometimes 24
Am I fit enough?
Probably, but for each notice of the hike John generally tells everyone the type of terrain we will be covering
Where do we go?
Generally anywhere in the North West, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales or sometimes North Wales
See the Gallery on the web site for more info
How long am I out?
We generally start the hike at 10am and finish around 3 or 4 pm. It of course depends on the time of year. In winter it is generally around 3pm but when the nights are longer we take full advantage of the light.
What else do I need to know?
- Bring a packed lunch
- Ensure you are dressed appropriately. There is no such thing as bad weather only inappropriate clothing.
- We generally stop around 11.30 for a breather and a drink, lunch around 1pm and try and find a café or a pub at the end
- If you know someone nearby is going it is always ‘nice’ to car share or travel on the train together
- We highly encourage you to offer your services as a leader. Why not take us on your favourite hike, one which you know and love. Or maybe with the help of John’s outstanding skills as a map reader choose a new route and plan it with John?
- Bring your dog if you like
- Bring your friends; colleagues; children ( and grandchildren)
How do I know ‘when’s the next hike?’
Once you are on the mailing list John emails you normally twice before the next hike. He also informs you of the hike after that if you can’t make that one
