Elterwater Lake District led by Andrew Zatman

Long Walk (9-15 miles)
Elterwater
Date: Tuesday, 14 August 2018 09:45 AM

Venue: National trust car park (free for members) in Elterwater

  • It is a circular wall from the National trust car park (free for members) in Elterwater and we will start the walk at 9:45 AM. But this is not true. It's not just a walk. It's the best walk. Where else would you find one walk which contains:-
  • Coffee at the best coffee shop in the lakes
  • a great waterfall
  • walking on the high fells above great Langdale, little Langdale and Wrynose Pass
  • fat man's agony”. You'll find out about that when you get there!
  •  Viking Parliament
  • the walk through a dark (and wet) man-made tunnel (with the surprise at the end)
  • a scramble out of a disused quarry
  • a pint of beer in a pub on the fell
  • afternoon tea at Zefferellis in Ambleside

The only problem for you is that this is my secret walk so everyone will need to wear a blindfold. The walk is around 12 miles and will take around 5-6 hours (excluding coffee, beer and afternoon tea)

If the weather is very bad we can still proceed on a lower route.

Joining Info
1 THERE IS NO PHONE SIGNAL IN ELTERWATER so make sure that you are at the start by 09:45
2 The postcode for the car park in Elterwater is LA22 9HP. It is opposite the Britannia Inn.
3 I have checked the timing and the walk should finish at around 4:30 PM. After that those who wish can have afternoon tea at Chesters on the river (Skelwith Bridge). This is the best in the Lake District
